  As I worked on site for several years I had almost unlimited access to "my fort" and spent many hours wandering around it. At first glance the interior structures look a bit knocked about and dilapidated, but much of the structure is actually still in use as storage and offices with the odd club as well.
  If you know what to look for you can find remnants of the last active inhabitants, including the RAF forge from the early 40's and what I believe was possibly the NAAFI hidden away in the undergrowth.

  Excellent place to visit but as it is inside HMS Sultan it is only open to the public on heritage weekends at the beginning of September for guided tours only. Tickets are normally available from Gosport information centre.
